"I Wanted to Try It," Ha Ji-won, The Story Behind Learning to Smoke

Actor Ha Ji-won revealed that she learned to smoke for the film 'Bi-gwang'.

On the 31st, the YouTube channel 'Sung Si-kyung SUNG SI KYUNG' featured actors Ha Ji-won and Kim Sun-young, who starred together in the film 'Bi-gwang', sharing a conversation with singer Sung Si-kyung.

In the video, Ha Ji-won spoke about her role as Nam-mi, a lifestyle entertainer in the film 'Bi-gwang', saying, "Nam-mi was a character whose emotions and appearance I had not been able to express while acting until now," and added, "As an actor, I wanted to try it once."

She confessed, "For the first time, I even bleached all my hair and learned to smoke."

She continued, "The director gave me cigarettes as a gift. They were stacked by type in a large shopping bag."

She then explained, "I have experience with what suits me, so they didn't give them all for me to smoke. Instead, they let me taste and choose the ones that made me feel comfortable during filming."

The film 'Bi-gwang', set to release on the 2nd, is directed by Lee Ji-won. It tells the story of top star couple Jung-gu (Ryu Seung-ryong) and Nam-mi (Ha Ji-won), whose lives are upended after their daughter Dong-joo (Kim Si-a) suddenly appears. Eight years later, they risk everything to save Dong-joo from being caught in a scandal. Ha Ji-won plays Nam-mi, a former top star whose popularity has plummeted.
