Singer and producer MC Mong has issued a public apology to actor and singer Kim Min-jong. This comes four days after Kim Min-jong filed a criminal complaint.
On the 5th, during his SNS (social media) live broadcast, MC Mong said, "It was wrong for me to even mention Kim Min-jong," adding, "I met with him directly and had a conversation to clear up the misunderstanding. Going forward, I will accept any articles that appear regarding me."
Previously, during a live broadcast last May, MC Mong mentioned Kim Min-jong by name, making claims suggesting his involvement in illegal gambling, bribery, witness tampering, and other offenses.
Kim Min-jong's side refuted these claims as baseless and filed a criminal complaint against MC Mong for defamation at Seoul Jongno Police Station on the 1st.
Kim Min-jong's side argued that his reputation and trust, built over 38 years, were damaged due to false claims, resulting in tangible harm such as the suspension of discussions regarding his upcoming Hollywood film role and advertising contracts.
At the time, Kim Min-jong stated firmly, "I will hold him fully accountable according to the law and principles without any compromise."
Immediately after the complaint was filed, on the 2nd, MC Mong made remarks in a live broadcast suggesting he did not care, saying, "Is it just one or two complaints? It's nothing."
However, by revealing that he had met Kim Min-jong directly today and offering an apology while clarifying that the misunderstanding was resolved, the conflict between the two parties has entered a new phase.
