Actress Hwang Jung-eum, who was found guilty of embezzling approximately 4.3 billion won from family corporation funds, shared images of herself enjoying a fireworks show with her two sons at an Itaewon single-family home reportedly purchased for 4.6 billion won.
Hwang posted a video on social media (SNS) on the 5th showing her watching the Seoul World Fireworks Festival with her two sons.
The video captured Hwang and her two sons gazing at fireworks from the rooftop of a single-family home in Itaewon overlooking the Han River. As fireworks exploded in the night sky, Hwang exclaimed, "It's beautiful," while filming the scene.
The house is reported to have been purchased by Hwang for approximately 4.6 billion won in 2020. With the so-called "prime spot for viewing fireworks" from her home now revealed, attention has turned to the property.
Alongside this, reactions referencing Hwang's past embezzlement case continued. Comments on related articles included: "Probation means a guilty verdict; she should be more careful," "Continuously posting proud moments doesn't look good," and "The past shapes the present."
On the other hand, responses such as "Fireworks can be enjoyed by anyone" and "It's her personal life; please stop criticizing so harshly" also emerged, characterizing the criticism as excessive.
Hwang has recently found herself in controversy whenever she shares daily life updates via SNS and YouTube.
Previously, she faced criticism over the condition of toys she offered to give away for free that her two sons had used. Questions were also raised regarding "neglect" concerning her pet dog's living environment. Recently, she was accused of not wearing underwear while dressed in a sleeveless top, but actual footage confirmed she was wearing one, leading to counterarguments that the accusations were excessive speculation.
Hwang was brought to trial on charges of embezzling approximately 4.34 billion won from family corporation funds and admitted to the allegations. She subsequently repaid the full amount of damages, and the court sentenced her to two years in prison with a four-year probation period.
Hwang married businessman Lee Young-don, a former professional golfer, in 2016 and had two sons. She divorced him last May following a lawsuit.
