TV host Do Kyung-wan, a former announcer, revealed his wife, singer Jang Yoon-jung's preferences for watches.
On Monday, a video featuring Do Kyung-wan sharing stories was released on the YouTube channel 'SHW Life Person's Watches.'
In the video, Do said that although he became deeply interested in watches late in life after his marriage, he did not worry about what others thought.
Do revealed that he developed an interest in watches after undergoing major surgery for acute osteomyelitis in the past.
He shared, "I lay in bed for several months and underwent multiple surgeries where they lifted and manipulated my bones due to acute osteomyelitis. My fingernails grew out this much over four years. They grow ugly. I used to think my hands were pretty, but when one day they started looking bad, I became depressed."
He said that after paying hospital bills with his wife Jang Yoon-jung's card and receiving insurance money, he started wearing watches because he wanted people to look at something other than his hands.
Do offered candid advice to married men considering getting into watches.
He said, "It depends on what kind of person your spouse is," and advised, "If your wife earns more than you or if you feel dominated at home, just pretend to be hesitant and start together."
He continued, "I didn't think my wife would have much interest in watches, but it's not easy for women to get into them either. Once they dip a toe in, their eye for detail improves and they develop desires."
In response, the host of 'Life Person' remarked, "It feels like these days women are shifting from handbags to watches."
Upon hearing this, Do said, "My wife has no desire for handbags at all. She carries a Nike bag and such. When I bought her a watch as a gift, she loved it."
He recounted, "At first, when I bought her a small one, she said, 'I think something bigger would look better.' Then when I bought her a bigger one next time, she said, 'These days women wear 40mm watches.'"
He added, "Don't hesitate alone about whether to get into it or not; make your spouse an accomplice. However, be aware that your family's financial situation could decline."
Do joined KBS as a public recruit announcer of the 35th cohort in 2009 and resigned in 2021. He married Jang Yoon-jung, who is two years his senior, in 2013, and they have a son named Yeon-woo and a daughter named Ha-young.
Previously, Do introduced his watch collection purchased over three years through the YouTube channel 'Dojang TV' in August.
Last month, he also revealed his wife's watches. Her luxurious watch collection, including brands such as Tiffany, Breitling, Tissot, Cartier, and Rolex, attracted much attention.
In particular, Do drew attention by commenting on the Rolex Date-Date 36mm in yellow gold adorned with diamonds owned by Jang Yoon-jung, saying, "If I wore it, people would point fingers at me, but I acknowledge that 'Jang Yoon-jung is worthy of wearing it.'" The item is currently being sold for 75.73 million won.
