Actress Han Go-eun revealed that after undergoing surgery for an enlarged breast lump, she ended up visiting the emergency room during her recovery period.
On the 15th, a video titled "Lump grew to 5 cm in 9 months... The reason Han Go-eun ultimately had to undergo surgery" was released on the YouTube channel 'Go-eun Unni Han Go-eun'.
In the video, Han Go-eun said, "I took three days off for the holiday break, and this year I spent my first holiday at the emergency room instead of visiting my in-laws," adding, "It turns out quite a lot of people spend their holidays in the emergency room."
Han Go-eun recalled, "A lump approximately 3.2 cm in size was discovered in my left breast during a health checkup last January. It is like a cyst. Since it was over 3 cm, I went to a secondary hospital for further examination. They said that although the size is large, the biopsy results showed nothing malignant, so we should just monitor it."
However, at a follow-up examination last August, the size of the lump had exceeded 5 cm, and she was diagnosed as needing immediate surgery.
Han Go-eun explained, "So, I had no choice but to rush into surgery."
Han Go-eun said, "I work very frequently due to commitments with my viewers. I had to continue filming, but because the Asian Games were being held, there was a two-week hiatus in broadcasts, which allowed me some rest, and a date for the surgery was set."
She added, "The surgery went well, but the recovery period was short. I could only rest for about three days before returning to filming. Since I had taken time off, I had to push myself hard. As a result, I caught a bad cold."
She continued, "I went to the filming set while suffering in pain. I kept going with the thought that I would be able to rest for about three days when the Chuseok holiday arrived."
Han Go-eun also experienced severe vomiting symptoms while her husband was briefly away at a veterinary hospital with their pets.
She said, "My throat was so dry, but I would vomit even when I drank water. Since I was vomiting everything up raw, it became unbearable. It was the holiday, so I had no choice but to go to the emergency room."
She further revealed, "As my blood pressure dropped, I felt dazed. Just like a scene in a drama, my blood pressure suddenly dropped and the monitor started beeping. All kinds of thoughts ran through my mind."
It was added that she received an antiemetic injection, IV fluids, and antibiotics at the emergency room, and her test results were normal.
Han Go-eun's husband shared an anecdote about the time Han Go-eun underwent surgery after the incident in the emergency room.
He said, "They told me it would be over in 15 minutes. But at the 45th-minute mark, she was still in surgery. I thought something had gone wrong. I started calling my mother to let her know. Later, the status changed to 'recovering.' She was sweating, and my mother was praying."
Han Go-eun said, "Actually, I have been thinking a lot about this recently. You never know what will happen in life. I realized that I need to make preparations for the people who will be left behind after I am gone."
