Singer Hwang Chan-hee revealed her story of becoming a shaman after enduring spiritual affliction for more than 10 years.
On the episode of MBN's "Special Report World" aired on the 15th, the current status of Hwang Chan-hee, who has been living as a shaman for 10 years, was revealed.
In the broadcast, Hwang Chan-hee headed to the shrine set up inside her home after dropping off her son at school. She said, "I start every morning by grinding and offering clean dew water. I pray with a pure heart."
Hwang Chan-hee stated, "I experienced spiritual affliction from around my early twenties. I received the spirit after giving birth to my second son," adding, "After going through more than 10 years of this, it became absolutely unbearable, so I became a shaman."

According to Hwang Chan-hee, she ran away from home after enrolling in college and cut off contact with her parents, around which time she began experiencing unexplained physical pain.
She recalled the period, saying, "I had such severe coughing that I could not eat or speak. My entire body was swollen from head to toe, making it so difficult that I could barely walk."
She continued, "From my early thirties, I started seeing unknown forms," adding, "It was so painful and hard that I thought, 'Am I really going to die like this?'"
She also shared the pain of the period when she lived without contact with her family.
Hwang Chan-hee said, "I kept feeling like I was completely alone," adding, "If I had not left home and had been living with my parents, they would have been even more heartbroken seeing their daughter suffer from spiritual affliction."
At the time, Hwang Chan-hee's father reportedly canceled her resident registration as a last resort to find his daughter. Hwang Chan-hee recalled, "I was so absurdly amused that I let out a dry laugh. I thought, 'My parents are canceling my registration? Really? Fine, don't look for me.'"

Afterwards, Hwang Chan-hee returned to her parents' embrace after 10 years of enduring long-term physical pain and financial hardship.
Recalling the difficult time, she said, "I do not want to go back to that period. Even thinking about it now, it was a very painful memory," while shedding tears.
She added, "At that time, I had no one to confide in and no one to meet with to discuss what was on my mind."
