StageFive announced on the 2nd that it has acquired Loflat, a domestic artificial intelligence (AI) location data specialist company led by CEO Gu Ja-hyeong, and will integrate it as a subsidiary.
This acquisition will proceed via a comprehensive stock exchange method. After securing Loflat's shares, StageFive plans to enhance the competitiveness of its mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) brand 'PinDirect' in terms of communication services and pursue new businesses based on location data. Loflat will continue its existing business framework unchanged following the acquisition.
Loflat, the acquired company, is a specialist in location information analysis that connects human visits and movements into digital data. Through its proprietary technology, it can recognize visits to over 600,000 indoor locations (POIs) nationwide. It has built a map of more than 100 million Wi-Fi wireless access points (APs), enabling precise identification of nationwide locations even in underground and indoor spaces where satellite navigation system (GPS) signals cannot reach.
The collected movement paths are used to analyze offline behavioral patterns and visit frequency. Through this, the company is developing businesses such as location-based marketing, foot traffic measurement, and analysis of digital out-of-home advertising (DOOH) effectiveness. Various internet platform companies, including telecommunications carriers and card issuers, are utilizing Loflat's data for service improvements and marketing decision-making.
StageFive plans to first apply its integrated AI location technology to improve communication quality. Based on the acquired offline behavioral data, it aims to refine customized services for children and senior citizens and continuously discover new businesses that transcend existing boundaries in the telecommunications sector.
Gu Ja-hyeong, CEO of Loflat, stated, "We expect our unique location technology to combine with communication services to generate greater synergy," adding, "We will dedicate efforts to ensure that location technology and insights create new value across a wide range of fields."
Seo Sang-won of StageJi Pa-i-beu (CEO) said, "This decision aims to provide customers with high-quality services while achieving business diversification for StageFive," and added, "We will continue to showcase integrated services featuring differentiated benefits and convenience to strengthen our competitiveness."
