Samsung Electronics achieved its highest-ever performance this year by recording an operating profit of over 89 trillion won in a single quarter for the second quarter, becoming the first domestic company to do so. The semiconductor division contributed the majority of the operating profit, setting a new record for three consecutive quarters since the company's founding.
Samsung Electronics announced its final results for the second quarter this year on the 30th, with consolidated revenue of 171.4995 trillion won and an operating profit of 89.4924 trillion won. Compared to the same period last year, revenue increased by 130%, while operating profit surged by 1,813.8%. Both figures represent all-time highs.
Notably, the operating profit more than doubled the company's full-year operating profit from last year (43.601 trillion won). This surpasses even NVIDIA's recent quarterly operating profit of $53.536 billion (approximately 82 trillion won) for the period from February to April 2026, making Samsung Electronics the world's top company in this regard.
The majority of the operating profit came from the DS (Device Solutions) division, which is responsible for semiconductor operations. The DS division reported revenue of 127.5 trillion won and an operating profit of 89.2 trillion won. Operating profit increased by 66.1% compared to the previous quarter (53.7 trillion won), driven by a sharp rise in prices across all memory products, including HBM (high-bandwidth memory), general-purpose DRAM, and NAND flash. It is reported that Samsung Electronics raised average DRAM contract prices by approximately 30% in the second quarter.
However, the DX (Device Experience) division, which focuses on finished product businesses, recorded revenue of 48 trillion won and an operating loss of 80 billion won. This is attributed to increased cost burdens due to soaring semiconductor prices and intensifying global competition.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is scheduled to hold a second-quarter earnings announcement conference call at 10:00 AM today.
