Samsung Electronics once again demonstrated its competitiveness in next-generation memory technology by winning two categories at 'FMS (Future of Memory and Storage) 2026', the world's largest memory and storage technology conference.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 6th that it won the '3D & NAND Innovation Award' with V10 BV-NAND (NAND) and the 'Next-Gen Memory Award' with LPDDR(LOW POWER DATA TRANSFER MEMORY)5X-PIM(Processing-In-Memory) at the 'FMS Awards (Best of Show Awards)' held during 'FMS 2026'.
V10 BV-NAND is a next-generation V-NAND technology that implements an ultra-high stacking structure of over 400 layers, enabling more data to be stored in the same area. It is evaluated as a key technology to meet the rapidly increasing demand for data storage in the AI (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE) era.
Samsung Electronics implemented an ultra-high stacking structure by combining 'BV (Bonding Vertical) technology', which vertically bonds wafers, and '3 Stack technology', which connects V-NAND cells across three layers. This approach increased storage density while reducing power consumption and heat generation, thereby improving both performance and operational efficiency. Recognized for this technological innovation, V10 BV-NAND won the '3D & NAND Innovation Award'.
LPDDR5X-PIM is a next-generation memory product from Samsung Electronics that applies PIM technology to LPDDR5X for the first time in the world. Its distinctive feature is that it is designed to perform computations directly within the memory. By processing data internally and transmitting only necessary results to the processor, it minimizes data movement within the system while simultaneously enhancing performance and power efficiency. In particular, LPDDR5X-PIM is expected to be highly utilized in fields requiring low power consumption and high performance, such as AI accelerators and HPC (HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING).
Samsung Electronics stated, "Through Lee Beon (수상), we have received global recognition for our next-generation memory technology competitiveness, and we will further solidify our leadership in memory technology to lead the AI era."
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics plans to present its future technology vision to global customers and the industry by showcasing next-generation memory roadmaps, AI memory solutions, and next-generation storage technologies at 'FMS 2026', which runs until the 6th local time.
