Samsung Electronics is moving to equip the Galaxy S27 flagship (top-tier) model (Ultra) with the next-generation mobile application processor (AP), "Exynos 2700." Originally, only Qualcomm's next-generation AP, "Snapdragon," was planned for the Galaxy S27 Ultra, but the company has now shifted direction to include Exynos in products for select countries, including South Korea.
According to industry sources on the 1st, Samsung Electronics is reported to have recently placed an order for mainboards for the Galaxy S27 Ultra featuring the Exynos 2700. The system LSI business division and MX (Mobile Experience) business division are understood to have conducted preliminary coordination to supply Exynos, while maintaining development of models equipped with Snapdragon in a two-track approach.
Previously, Samsung Electronics had planned to apply the Exynos 2700 only to the standard, Plus, and Pro models of the Galaxy S27 series in select global markets such as South Korea and Europe. With the Ultra model now included in the supply target, Exynos may be equipped across all Galaxy S27 series models. However, in countries such as the United States, the Ultra model is expected to feature Snapdragon as originally planned.
With Exynos being equipped in a flagship model for the first time since the Galaxy S22 launched in 2022, the possibility of expanding mobile AP supply by Samsung Electronics' system LSI business division has also increased. An industry insider stated, "It is unusual to add an Exynos version when major development processes with Snapdragon are nearly complete," adding that it "signifies high expectations for its own AP."
