Samsung Group announced on the 7th that it will begin its second-half recruitment drive starting tomorrow (the 8th). It is evaluated as the only major domestic company to have maintained its new graduate recruitment system for 70 years, fulfilling its responsibility to create jobs for young people Gyeong Je-gye-reul (CEO).
The companies participating in this recruitment drive include: Samsung Electronics, Samsung C&T, Samsung Biologics, Samsung Bioepis, Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Display, Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDS, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, Samsung Card, Samsung Securities, Samsung Heavy Industries, Samsung E&A, Shilla Hotel, Cheil Worldwide, S-One, Samsung Medical Center, and Samsung Wellness Story — a total of 19 companies.
Applicants can submit their applications through the Samsung Careers website (samsungcareers.com) until the 15th of this month for the company they wish to join. The recruitment process will proceed with job aptitude assessments in September, followed by the Samsung Group Job Aptitude Test (GSAT) in October, and then interviews and medical examinations in November.
Applicants for software (SW) positions will take a practical SW competency test instead of GSAT, while design applicants will be selected through portfolio reviews rather than GSAT.
Samsung introduced new graduate recruitment for the first time in Korea in 1957 and has continued this practice for 70 years this year. Except for exceptional circumstances such as the IMF (International Monetary Fund) foreign exchange crisis in the 1990s, Samsung has consistently carried out its recruitment drive through numerous challenges including the oil shocks of the 1970s and the global financial crisis of the 2000s.
This contrasts with several other groups that once conducted regular recruitment but have recently shifted to continuous hiring systems due to various large and small variables over the past few decades. From a corporate perspective, regular recruitment represents a fixed cost burden; however, it provides young people with stable job opportunities. A business executive stated, "Providing high-quality jobs to young people on a predictable cycle is highly commendable as it reflects a company fulfilling its social responsibility."
