Lotte Department Store will comprehensively renovate the food section of its Jamsil branch main building starting from the 26th. This large-scale premium renovation, targeting the entire basement level 1 food hall, is the first in 10 years since 2017.
Through this renovation, Lotte Department Store aims to create a "Luxury Gourmet Specialty Hall" spanning 34,000 pyeong (approximately 11,250 square meters). Aiming for a "world-class luxury gourmet specialty hall," the company plans to proceed with phased improvements and complete the project by the first half of 2028. Next year, it will establish a dessert specialty hall and a premium supermarket, followed by the phased development of food and beverage spaces in 2028.
The core of the renovation is the "dualization of luxury gourmet spaces" tailored to customer visit purposes and the "specialization of content" based on usage experience. The space will be divided into "EATS" and "BUY," with each area featuring optimized, specialized gourmet curation.
The EATS space focuses on "luxury dining" and "premium variety." It will aggregate everything from Jamsil-exclusive menus to ultra-premium services through collaborations with carefully selected gourmet brands from around the world.
The BUY space will offer premium food content linked to top-tier ingredients, convenient gourmet options, and gourmet gifts. The premium supermarket guarantees the highest quality of beef (hanwoo), fruits, and other items purchased by department store buyers.
It is also moving to enhance delivery services through direct-from-origin shipping. In the "Take Out" zone, it will diversify "ultra-fresh live content" that allows customers to observe the cooking process of selected ingredients. The "Food Gift" zone will feature special packages including ultra-rare ingredients from various countries, products from collaborations with famous chefs and dining establishments, and items dedicated to holidays and anniversaries.
The design of the food hall is being handled by the U.S. design studio "Roman and Williams." Roman and Williams, which has led spatial design for venues such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, plans to naturally incorporate Lotte's history and stories into the space.
Lotte Department Store aims to enhance the competitiveness of Lotte Town Jamsil through this renovation. The project serves as the first step in fully launching the comprehensive renovation of the entire main building of Lotte Town Jamsil, which is planned for future implementation. Lotte Town Jamsil surpassed 3 trillion won in annual revenue for two consecutive years up to last year and is on the verge of joining the 4th trillion won club this year.
In particular, the Jamsil branch is located in a high-income residential dense commercial area with high growth potential, and with large-scale housing redevelopment projects involving over 30,000 households ahead, demand for premium gourmet experiences is expected to increase further. In fact, the food hall at the Jamsil branch sees VIP customers visiting on approximately 30 days per year, indicating a high frequency of visits, while maintaining the highest average transaction value among all branches.
Lotte Department Store has recently accelerated its town-ification strategy. It is focusing investments on key stores such as the Main Branch and Jamsil branch to develop them into landmarks combining shopping and tourism. The company completed a full-building renovation of the Nowon branch this year and unveiled "Lotte Mall Valley Town Cheongnyangni" this month. It is also developing the Incheon branch as Lotte's third town.
Kim Sang-woo, Head of Sales at Lotte Department Store, stated, "The renovation of the Jamsil branch food hall is a project to redefine the competitiveness of department store food halls, befitting the status of the Jamsil branch as a shopping landmark that Han Guk-eul (CEO)." He added, "We will present a luxury food hall that provides spatial experiences of world-class gourmet content, continuing the leap forward of Lotte Town Jamsil."
