The Hanul Unit 4 nuclear power plant located in Uljin County, Gyeongbuk Province, has automatically shut down, prompting the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission to launch an investigation.
On the 19th, the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission announced that it received a report from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power stating that Hanul Unit 4 underwent an automatic shutdown around 8:50 a.m. today.
Hanul Unit 4 remains in a stable condition, with no abnormal alarms on radiation monitors or external releases confirmed.
The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission's Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Regional Office is currently inspecting site safety, and an investigation team composed of experts from the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS) is scheduled to be dispatched to the site.
