Major domestic game companies successively announced new titles at the world's largest gaming event, 'Gamescom 2026.' With global expansion being a key topic in the recent game industry, these announcements were made at overseas gaming expos rather than domestic ones.
According to the IT industry on the 26th, Krafton unveiled videos of five new titles at ONL (Opening Night Live), the eve event of Gamescom. ONL is an official pre-event where major global game companies annually announce new titles and key updates. This year, Krafton was the only domestic game company to open and participate in a B2C (business-to-consumer) booth.
At ONL, Krafton unveiled videos of five new titles: Project Zeta, Age Twister, PUBG Deadnet, No Law, and Tala Unbound. 'Project Zeta' showcased the characteristics of multi-team tactical PvP (player versus player), while 'Age Twister' revealed scenes of players clearing stages through two-player cooperative play.
'PUBG Deadnet' introduced a growth system utilizing rogue-like elements, and 'No Law' presented gameplay where users can choose various approaches depending on how the protagonist overcomes each situation and mission. Set in an Eastern dark fantasy world, 'Tala Unbound' featured combat using skills and boss battles.
NC, which participated in the Gamescom B2B (business-to-business) booth, also unveiled three new titles at ONL. NC showcased new videos for 'Aion 2' and 'Thinder City,' and made its first public reveal of the newly developed title 'Like or Die.' NC stated that with the unveiling of these three new titles, it aims to fully enter the global market.
Alongside the release of a new trailer, Aion 2 confirmed its official global launch date. NC plans to simultaneously launch Aion 2 on October 5 via PC platforms such as Steam and Purple in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia regions. In the new video for Thinder City, the process of the world reaching destruction in the 21st century was depicted from the perspective of characters within the story.
The newly revealed Like or Die is a team-based survival FPS (first-person shooter). Its key feature is that users become streamers and engage in a survival competition to be the last remaining team while cooperating with teammates. In the video, NC unveiled core gameplay scenes including combat methods using blocks and destroying the opposing team's nexus.
Pearl Abyss, which successfully made 'Red Desert' a hit, proved its popularity by being nominated in two categories at the Gamescom Awards: Epic and Best PC Game. Pearl Abyss participated in Gamescom alongside Samsung Electronics, allowing visitors to play Red Desert on Samsung Electronics' world's first 6K gaming monitor, 'Odyssey G8.'
A game industry official stated, "With global expansion being the primary goal of major domestic game companies recently, interest in overseas gaming expos is higher than before," adding, "To enter markets such as the U.S. or Europe, unveiling new titles locally is more effective, so participation rates at overseas gaming expos are expected to rise further compared to domestic ones."
