SK Broadband announced on the 2nd that its B tv 'AI (Artificial Intelligence) 5 Set-Top Box' has swept all four of the world's top design awards.
The 'AI 5 Set-Top Box' achieved a grand slam by winning the main prize at the U.S. IDEA Design Award in August, following its wins at Japan's Good Design Award last year, Germany's iF Design Award in March this year, and Germany's Red Dot Design Award in April.
The 'AI 5 Set-Top Box' features a matte black design that reduces unnecessary elements and enhances sophistication based on a circular design concept. It pursues a 'home object' design that naturally blends into daily life, moving away from the technology-centric image of communication equipment by embracing minimalism.
SK Broadband moved beyond the familiar design language of existing set-top boxes by boldly concealing buttons and logos previously exposed on the top surface, minimizing physical components while focusing on convenience so that key functions can be easily accessed via AI voice commands and UI.
To maintain actual durability while achieving a natural object texture distinct from general electronic devices, the product underwent various surface finishing tests. A matte finish was applied to complete a visually calm and organized design. The rear finish, where cables and terminals concentrate, was also meticulously refined to ensure harmony with everyday spaces.
