Pearl Abyss’s Black Desert has been released for over 12 years, yet it continues to deliver new fun to users through weekly updates. Pearl Abyss is focusing on continuously adding new content while also creating an environment where new and returning adventurers can quickly experience accumulated content.
According to Pearl Abyss on the 23rd, this game has maintained weekly updates for 12 years, consistently introducing new classes, regions, hunting grounds, and other content. At the adventurer event 'Heidel Feast' held last July, the company unveiled 'Edenia Part 2', which expanded the new class 'Agent' and the demon realm 'Edenia', broadening the scope of adventure.
Recently, the main quest 'Inside Edenia' was updated to conclude the story of Edenia that has been ongoing since August last year. New adventurer logs and high-difficulty boss raids titled 'Qualification for the Throne: Hadeum' were added, allowing existing adventurers to challenge new goals and expanding the content.
Beyond simply adding new content, the company is also refining existing gameplay experiences. By integrating life equipment at the family level, it resolved the inconvenience of having to separately apply life equipment when changing characters. Additionally, features such as saving equipment setups for each life content type and removing durability from alchemy stones were implemented to improve user convenience. While reducing player stress, these measures have broadened the game’s appeal and laid the foundation for its status as a long-lasting popular title.
For existing adventurers, the game provides new goals, while for new and returning adventurers, it offers a clear path to reach those goals. This approach simplifies growth routes, reducing the burden of having to follow all vast content accumulated over 12 years from the beginning and enabling quick access to major content.
A representative program is 'Hyper Boost', added last July. It supports equipment growth, allowing players to quickly increase their attack-defense balance so that new and returning adventurers can enter top-tier content. During this process, the 'Olvia Academy' was designed to let players naturally experience gameplay mechanics and life content.
Additional content to sustain momentum in the second half of the year is also in preparation. The current level system will be restructured to set level 75 as a new growth target, and a combat adjustment system based on monster levels and level differences will be expanded across all zones. In November, a 'Family Dispatch' system will be added, allowing sub-characters to be utilized for gathering, processing, fishing, and other activities.
