Both Celltrion's revenue and operating profit set new quarterly records.
On the 12th, Celltrion announced its preliminary Q3 results on a consolidated basis, reporting revenue of 1.5 trillion won and an operating profit of 510 billion won. These figures represent year-on-year increases of 45.8% and 69.2%, respectively. The operating profit margin (operating profit as a percentage of revenue) rose by 4.7 percentage points over the same period to reach 34%.
This is the first time Celltrion's quarterly operating profit has exceeded 500 billion won. In its public disclosure of future business and management plans at the beginning of the year, the company set operating profit targets of △300 billion won for Q1 (final results: 321.9 billion won), △400 billion won for Q2 (final results: 451.8 billion won), and △500 billion won or more for Q3 (preliminary earnings: 510 billion won). It successfully met these targets for three consecutive quarters.
A Celltrion official stated, "The main factor was the rapid increase in the revenue share of our relatively high-margin follow-on product line, amid balanced sales expansion of both existing and new products across key global markets such as the United States and Europe." The official added, "Continued production efficiency improvements and cost structure optimization also supported the rise in profitability." Furthermore, the company said it would make every effort to achieve its Q4 and full-year business plan (revenue of 5.3 trillion won, operating profit of 1.8 trillion won), leveraging growth drivers such as the launch of Omliclo in the U.S. and expanded supply in Europe.
