MoneyToday will hold the "2nd MoneyToday-MT Bio Forum" at 2:30 p.m. on the 3rd of next month at the Seoul Yeouido FKI Tower. Government institutional investors and officials from pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies are expected to gather to broadly discuss global growth strategies for K-bio.
The theme of this forum is "K-Bio, Conditions for Global Growth." It will share the global expansion and research experiences of leading domestic pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Additionally, it will explore investment attraction know-how from venture capital (VC) firms, regulatory institutional investor response strategies, and efficient public disclosure and IR (Investor Relations) communication methods. Active discussions are expected to focus on content that will provide practical assistance for the global growth of domestic pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
Currently, K-bio stands at a crossroads regarding whether it can leap forward in the global market. South Korea's bio-health industry export value reached $27.9 billion (approximately 37 trillion won) last year, marking an all-time high with a 10.3% increase from the previous year. However, the structure concentrated on CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) for biopharmaceuticals and biosimilars (biological replicates of biopharmaceuticals) remains a challenge to overcome.
The global pharmaceutical market is characterized by fierce competition for dominance. With the patent expiration of numerous drugs, including blockbuster drugs (medicines with annual sales exceeding 1 trillion won), looming on the horizon, multinational big pharma companies are actively pursuing M&A (mergers and acquisitions) and technology imports to strengthen their market power.
This presents both a crisis and an opportunity for K-bio, which has consistently strengthened its new drug development capabilities. This is why MoneyToday selected "K-Bio, Conditions for Global Growth" as the theme of this forum.
