Actress Jeon Won-joo reveals that she has been diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment, known as a pre-dementia stage, and expresses her anxiety over declining memory.
Jeon appears on the MBN variety show "Unforgettable Duet 2," which premieres on Saturday, where she states that her recent memory is not what it used to be.
On the broadcast, Jeon is seen failing to recall a recent encounter while conversing with Kim Hyung-ja, an actress and friend of 55 years.
Jeon confesses, "Lately, I cannot recognize people quickly," adding, "They say we met recently, but it does not come to mind easily. My memory is gradually declining."
She then reveals, "I have been diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment, a pre-dementia stage. I was scared and frightened by the anxiety of what would happen if I were to forget my life experiences and precious people."
She explains her decision to appear on the program, saying, "I realized that I must preserve today's self with my precious people. I wanted to deeply engrave the memories I currently hold."
Born in 1939, Jeon transitioned from being a voice actor to an actress and gained popularity through dramas such as "Love Grew on the Jujube Tree" and "Hospital for Happy Families."
