Ko Young-wook, 50, a former member of the group Rula who served a prison sentence for sexually assaulting minors, has been continuously firing shots at fellow entertainers. This time, he targeted actor couple Ryu Soo-young and Park Ha-seon.
On the 7th, Ko Young-wook posted a message on his X (formerly Twitter) targeting Park Ha-seon, writing, "Ha-seon, I didn't realize you were like this before, but you were ultimately a woman who couldn't be handled as a law exam candidate."
He added, "If it continues like this, you'll keep buying luxury goods in the future. Husband Ryu Soo-young will have to work hard no matter what. It may seem like pouring water into a leaky bucket, but..."
He even mentioned Ryu Soo-young's film debut, "Summer Time," saying, "When things get tough, you'll probably just hang out with Kim Ji-hyun and other members still recycling Rula's hit songs from 30 years ago, or attend cheap events featuring aging 1990s singers. Why don't you just stay home and age together? Or maybe film 'Summer Time 2' instead."
Ko Young-wook previously appeared alongside Park Ha-seon in the 2011 MBC sitcom "High Kick! Revenge of the Short Leg." However, the reason he suddenly targeted Park Ha-seon after more than a decade remains unknown.
Ko debuted with Rula in 1994 but was sentenced to two years and six months in prison in 2013 for forcibly molesting and sexually assaulting three minors. At the time, he was also ordered to have his personal information disclosed for five years and wear an electronic ankle bracelet for three years, earning him the stigma of being the "first celebrity with an electronic ankle bracelet." He served his sentence at Nambu Detention Center, Anyang Prison, and Seoul Nambu Detention Center before being released in 2015.
Even after his release, his social media activities were not smooth. In November 2020, he opened an Instagram account saying, "I want to cautiously communicate with the world," but it was shut down within a day due to accumulated reports. This was because of Instagram's policy prohibiting accounts of those convicted of sexual crimes and encouraging reporting. His YouTube channel, opened in August 2024, also faced numerous reports and closed after about two weeks.
Amid this, Ko Young-wook has recently continued his public attacks on entertainers such as Yoo Jae-suk, Lee Sang-min, Lee Ji-hye, and Tak Jae-hoon via X.
