In an interview following the end of Season 2, Jung apologized, saying, "I was genuinely committed to winning, and I think I made several people and viewers uncomfortable in the process. It was my responsibility, and I'm sorry."
Criticism of Jung continued, with some viewers also expressing discomfort over his appearance in Season 3.
Asked why he decided to return despite the controversy following his Season 2 victory, Jung said, "I'm still reflecting on what happened. I boldly decided to take on the challenge again because I wanted to show that I could improve and prove myself with a more mature attitude."
Producer Choi Yoon-hee also said, "We feel responsible for the points viewers have raised. We gave the matter a great deal of thought and tried to take those concerns into account during production."
"The Devil's Plan 3" brings together legendary contestants from brain-based survival shows and rising challengers to compete for a single winner amid unpredictable twists. The 14-episode series will be released on Netflix over three weeks starting Nov. 10.
Born in 1998, Jung is studying physical education at Seoul National University. He first gained public attention after appearing on the dating reality show "EXchange 2" in 2022.
