Actor Jang Dong-gun addressed recent plastic surgery rumors.
On the 18th, a video featuring Jang Dong-gun in conversation with his wife, actress Go So-young, was released on Go So-young's YouTube channel.
In the video, Go So-young introduced her husband Jang Dong-gun as the first guest for a newly created segment called 'Go So-young Show,' where she invites acquaintances to share stories.
The production team remarked upon seeing Jang Dong-gun: "We were genuinely surprised by his real appearance. It's no joke. He's truly handsome." They added, "We can't understand why there was recent controversy over his looks," referencing the recent allegations of cosmetic procedures.
In response, Go So-young said, "He put in a lot of effort today," and added, "He went to the salon and even did facial scrubbing at night," highlighting her husband Jang Dong-gun's efforts for his appearance.
Jang Dong-gun joked, "It was reported that I had plastic surgery, so I tried hard to look good on camera." Go So-young then revealed the reason she invited him as the first guest: "I persuaded him to appear on YouTube to clarify those rumors."
Regarding the controversial video of Jang Dong-gun, he explained, "Actually, that was filmed using a retouching app. We naturally assumed everyone would know it involved a retouching app, but the situation escalated too much."
Jang Dong-gun shared, "At first, I didn't think much of it, but the day after tomorrow, my father called me. I had seen him three days earlier, and he asked, 'What have you done to your face in just one day?' That's when I realized people actually believed it. I received more calls than during the movie release."
On the 2nd of last month, fashion magazine 'Dazed Korea' released a video via its official social media account showing a mainstream brand launch event.
In the video, Jang Dong-gun appeared with a somewhat flushed face, as if he had received facial treatments. Some netizens raised suspicions of plastic surgery, but the controversy was clarified about a month later as a mishap caused by the use of a retouching app.
Jang Dong-gun and Go So-young married in 2010 and have one son and one daughter.
