Singer Jang Yoon-jung opened up about the feelings behind her new song 'To Heaven', released after nearly three years.
On the 20th, a video titled 'A Gift from Jang Factory to Jang Yoon-jung' was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Jang Factory Jang Yoon-jung'.
In the video, Jang Yoon-jung said, "I think I've gradually lost meaning in releasing new songs since some point. It felt like I had become lazy, and as burdens of planning and completing a new song piled up along with thoughts like 'What if it doesn't go well?', it's been quite a while since I released a new song."
She continued, "Everyone goes through difficult moments in life, doesn't they? The hardest time is when you feel lonely. It was then that I felt loneliness when the thought arose: 'I alone know this pain; I must endure it by myself.'"
Jang Yoon-jung explained that she wrote lyrics such as "Is there really a god who watches over us in heaven?" to express these feelings.
She said, "I kept spending time questioning and resenting the sky," but added, "However, I felt like the refreshing breeze I love and the bright full moon beside me were comforting me, so I created this song with those lyrics."
Regarding the phrase in the music video, "When you want to sit down and cry, may this song serve as an excuse for your tears," she shared, "I was the first one to use the song as an excuse to cry. I hope people enduring difficult situations will listen to this song and find strength."
Meanwhile, Jang Yoon-jung's mother, Ms. Yuk, was arrested in July on suspicion of raising investment funds under her daughter's name and misappropriating them. She was subsequently transferred to the Prosecution Service. Initially, investigations were halted due to her being listed as missing, with rumors of her death circulating after no signs of life activity such as using a residence in Daejeon were detected. However, she was eventually arrested following police tracking efforts.
