Comedian Sim Hyun-seop shared an anecdote about earning 320 million won in one day during his prime.
On the 28th episode of KBS1's 'Morning Stage', comedians Lee Yong-sik, Sim Hyun-seop, Eom Young-soo, and Song Jung-geun appeared as guests.
During the broadcast, when the topic of Sim Hyun-seop's income during his peak years arose, he said, "There was a time when my highest daily earnings were even reported in the news."
He then joked, "It would be unpleasant for my father-in-law to hear this. Recently, my father-in-law asked me, 'Do you really have nothing at all?' After that, he revealed, 'I completed 17 schedules in one day and earned 320 million won.'"
When the panelists asked, "Where did all the money you earned back then go?", Sim Hyun-seop replied, "I should call my mother."
In response, Lee Yong-sik said, "I have seen Sim Hyun-seop take care of his family and spend a long time caring for his sick mother."
Earlier, on the 8th, Sim Hyun-seop also provided detailed information about his income at that time on MBN's 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi'. He explained that in September 2000, he completed a total of 17 schedules in one day, including four radio advertisements, corporate sports events, and nightclub performances, earning 320 million won.
However, he added, "I never really felt the taste of money," and revealed, "I took on my mother's debt of 1.5 billion won and paid it all off within seven years." He also mentioned that after his mother was hospitalized, he cared for her for a long time.
Meanwhile, Sim Hyun-seop married Jeong Young-rim, a non-celebrity who is 11 years younger than him, through TV Chosun's 'Joseon's Lover' in April last year.
