Singer Koo Chang-mo revealed that he made much more money from an automobile business in Central Asia in the early 1990s than during his singing career.
The MBN variety program 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi,' airing at 11 p.m. on the 19th, will feature a special two-part episode with Koo Chang-mo and Kim Beom-ryong.
In the preview video, Koo said, "When I wasn't singing in the early 1990s, I made a lot of money selling cars in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan."
He continued, "Bae Cheol-soo told me there was a rumor that I made 40 billion won there. So it wasn't quite that much; I said you have to remove one zero," he revealed. He added, "Even if it was only several billion won, I really earned much more than during my singing career."

Koo also confessed that he kept the cash he earned at the time under his bed mattress.
He said, "I couldn't trust banks, so I couldn't deposit money. When I sold cars and received cash, I put it under my bed mattress." He added, "At times, up to 1 million dollars was piled up there." This amount is equivalent to about 1.4 billion won at current exchange rates and about 800 million won at the exchange rates of that time.
When Noh Sa-yeon said, "You slept on a pile of money," Koo recalled, "Since there was money underneath, I wouldn't have lain down on top of it. Before going to sleep, I would just laugh 'hehehe' by myself. Back then, I really looked like a crazy X."
He added, "I even turned on the lights while sleeping. To check," which drew laughter.

Kim Beom-ryong also recalled Koo Chang-mo's appearance at the time, saying, "Whenever he came to Korea while doing business, there was a halo around him. It was a halo I had never seen even during his singing days." He added, "His shoulders were raised, and his eyes looked different."
He continued, "Whether drinking or eating, he would say, 'Don't worry,' and spent all the money."
Koo debuted as a member of the second generation of the group Black Tetra in 1978. Later, he joined Songgolmae in 1980 and gained popularity with hits such as 'Eotteoka Majuchin Geudae' and 'Modu da Saranghari.' Since 1985, he has been active as a solo singer, releasing hit songs like 'Heunari' and 'Apeun mankeum Seongmukhaejigo.'
