Park Mi-sun: "I have not been cured of breast cancer... I rushed my return due to rumors that I had died"

Broadcaster Park Mi-sun disclosed her current condition after revealing her struggle with breast cancer.

On the 29th, Park Mi-sun and Lee Hong-ryeol appeared as guests on the YouTube channel "Lee Sung-mi's I Am a Boomer."

On that day, Lee Sung-mi asked, "Many people are curious about Mi-sun. Have you really fully recovered?" Park Mi-sun had previously announced a complete halt to her broadcasting activities in January of last year due to health issues, after which it was revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, causing concern among fans.

Park Mi-sun replied, "You (Lee Sung-mi) have also battled cancer, so you know. The most awkward question is 'So you are cured now?' In fact, it is not a cure; I must continue to undergo regular tests and manage my condition well."

She stated that it was difficult to explain every detail of her follow-up examinations after her cancer battle, adding, "People in our country are very caring, aren't they? They put me strictly into the 'cancer patient' frame and say things like 'You can't do this' or 'You can't do that.' Even though I am careful because you all worry so much, there are times when I get scolded."

Park Mi-sun said she wants to be a role model for cancer patients. She added, "I cannot return to the time when I was not ill, but I realize that I really need to be careful. I want to become a role model so that those who are ill can look at me and think, 'If I exercise and work hard, I can get healthy too.'"

Regarding her current condition, Park Mi-sun explained, "My numbers have improved significantly compared to before I got sick. I undergo bone scans and full-body scans once every six months. Even though my condition is good and I expect it to be fine, I feel nervous every time I go to hear the test results. When the doctor says the results are good, I think, 'Ah, I can live for another six months.' That is how I extend my life."

Park Mi-sun shared her hidden struggles, stating, "Perhaps because I am a broadcaster, I was more worried about my scheduled broadcasts than shocked by the cancer diagnosis. There are broadcasters who undergo treatment without anyone knowing and move on. I wanted to do the same, but lymph node metastasis was discovered, so I had no choice but to stop my activities and focus entirely on treatment."

Park Mi-sun, who said she went through a difficult time undergoing chemotherapy for one year, also revealed that she rushed her return due to fake news. "I wanted my hair to grow back longer before coming out, but people were saying I had (all) died," she said.
