MBC’s ‘I Live Alone,’ which recently faced manipulation suspicions over broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo’s impromptu travel content, revealed actor Kim Min’s life in an old house, only to again face criticism that it was staged. Amid this, an internet user who introduced themselves as a field employee of KEPCO offered a different interpretation.
In the episode broadcast on the 2nd, MBC’s ‘I Live Alone’ (hereinafter ‘I Live Alone’) revealed an old house in Dongducheon that is approximately 90 years old and belongs to actor Kim Min.
On the show, Kim Min was seen operating a generator himself, repairing worn-out floors with cement, and grilling meat over a wood fire, exuding a charm akin to that of a true naturalist. He introduced the space as the home of an older brother he has known for a long time through his family, explaining that he occasionally uses it while traveling abroad.
However, after the broadcast, suspicions arose in some online communities that ‘I Live Alone’ had staged the space for the show.
One internet user posted photos claiming that Kim Min’s house looked significantly different from the road view captured in “July 2026.” The photos showed a house with overgrown grass in the yard. However, in the recently released road view of Kim Min’s house, the yard appeared neatly tidied up, and a space enclosed by cloth had been set up.
Particular focus was placed on how Kim Min used the generator. Some internet users questioned why he used a generator instead of regular electricity, given that utility poles were nearby and various electronic appliances, such as a refrigerator and speakers, appeared in the footage. With objects presumed to be a router or set-top box also discovered, speculation emerged that the environment was sufficient for connecting and using electricity.

Amid these developments, attention was drawn to a comment from an internet user who introduced themselves as a “field employee of Korea Electric Power Corporation” on the related video. The poster claimed that while an electrical service line was connected up to the house and a meter box remained, no electricity meter was visible inside.
They further suggested the possibility that the previous occupant had canceled the electricity contract and removed the meter when they stopped using the house. They interpreted that since the service line remains, electricity could be used upon application, but it appeared that no application had been made, leading to the use of a generator.
The comment drew attention by specifically supporting the view that even with utility poles and wires nearby, electricity may not actually be supplied. It also interpreted the situation not as an environment where electricity cannot be connected, but as a state where no application has been made after the meter was removed and the contract canceled, pointing to another possibility regarding the background of using a generator. However, the poster’s actual employment status and the electricity contract status of the house in question have not been confirmed.
Some internet users are casting a critical eye on the program, following the incident last August when ‘I Live Alone’ aired footage shot with Jeon Hyun-moo under an impromptu travel concept and faced manipulation suspicions.
Nevertheless, despite various suspicions, internet users are in a celebratory mood over Kim Min’s new appearance. Reactions included “I was healed watching ‘I Live Alone’ for the first time in a while,” “Viewers wanted this kind of guest,” and “This person is famous in Dongducheon. It’s not forced fabrication.”
Attention is now focused on whether ‘I Live Alone’ can regain its authenticity after this episode featuring Kim Min.
Meanwhile, Kim Min has established his presence by appearing in dramas such as ‘Casino,’ ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,’ and ‘Four Hands.’ In particular, in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,’ he left a strong impression with his distinctive character and intense action as Muay Thai instructor Pashin.
