Actress Kim Hyun-joo said she undergoes minor cosmetic procedures to maintain her appearance but stressed the importance of accepting her face as it is rather than going overboard with treatments.
According to NEWS1 and StarNews on Friday, Kim spoke about her secrets to appearance management and her attitude toward aging in a press interview conducted ahead of the release of the film "Paradise Lost."
In response to questions about her timeless beauty, Kim answered candidly, saying, "There are procedures I have no choice but to undergo. Of course, there are light cosmetic procedures."
Nevertheless, she said, "The moment you start overdoing it, it seems that more flaws become visible," adding, "I think it is important to simply accept my face as it is."
Regarding her usual maintenance routine, she joked, saying, "There is nothing special I do. I am not as mature as people might think. I try to hold onto that aspect without letting it slip away."
She also said that her perspective on her past self has changed. Kim confided, "If I look at how I was back then with a different perspective now, I wonder, 'What did I think I was so great about to act like that?'"
She continued, "Isn't there an old saying that 'the more the rice ripens, the lower it bows its head'? I believe that is how it should be," adding, "I believe I became who I am today through contemplation. Contemplation seems to be about looking into my true self and creating my real self."
Meanwhile, the film "Paradise Lost," in which Kim stars, is a psychological thriller depicting the story of Ryu So-young (played by Kim Hyun-joo), a mother who lost her son nine years ago in a camping school bus disappearance incident, and what happens when her son, Ryu Sun-woo (played by Bae Hyun-sung), whom she believed to be dead, returns alive. The film is scheduled for release on Oct. 21.
