A story was shared about a mother who verbally abused her daughter for using a dating app.
On the episode of tvN STORY's "Lee Ho-sun Counseling Office" broadcast on the 20th, a mother and daughter appeared who were in conflict over the use of a dating app.
The mother began by saying, "My daughter has suddenly changed. She usually doesn't wear makeup, but she suddenly started wearing it and paying attention to her appearance." She added, "She met men through an app, but there were many strange aspects to their conversations," expressing concern that "she only suggested going to weird places like DVD viewing rooms for dates. It didn't seem normal."
The mother said, "After a breakup, one should take some time before moving on, but she started dating someone else within a week," adding, "It seems she met eight boyfriends in two months. I am worried about this process. I hope she can have a mature relationship."
The mother revealed that after learning her daughter was meeting men through a dating app, she even considered cutting ties with her. She stated that they had many fights, and before severing contact when she forced her daughter to move out for the first time, she applied to appear on the show.
Beyond verbal arguments, the mother and daughter also got into physical altercations. They pushed each other and threw objects.
The daughter countered that she had never had any problems on the dating app. In response, the mother pointed out that it was abnormal for someone she had not met in person to suggest going on a trip together, leading to a fight with her daughter. The mother confessed that during the argument, her daughter even said, "People like you should not become mothers."
The daughter pushed back, saying, "I have a curfew, and if I want to stay out overnight, I must get permission two months in advance," adding, "Because the control is too strict, I said people like you should not become mothers. It was a remark born from her obsession with me and excessive interference."
Lee Ho-seon (Prof.) said it was the mother's fault. He stated, "When a daughter pushes back like this, it means the mother has been speaking in a way that is not easily dismissed." When asked what the most hurtful thing she had heard was, the daughter replied, "She said I seemed like a bar girl because I kept meeting men," shocking everyone present.
Professor Lee sided with the daughter, saying, "The mother was wrong. She used very harsh words." He asked how she felt when she heard such remarks, and the daughter answered, "I just thought, 'What is it to you?'"
