A scene in which IVE member Jang Won-young avoided a cheek kiss from a male executive at a luxury brand event has been revealed, sparking heated debate online.
Videos showing Jang attending a Bvlgari event held on the 28th of last month in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul spread across online communities and social media on Wednesday.
In the video, Jang exchanged greetings by touching cheeks with Laura Burdese, CEO of Bvlgari. Subsequently, Vincenzo Fuyà, vice president of global sales and retail division at Bvlgari, approached to greet her in a similar manner, but Jang blocked him with her arm and pulled her face back. The male executive paused, showing an awkward expression.

Opinions were divided online regarding Jang's response. Some netizens pointed out that she should have respected the other party's greeting style at a formal event.
One netizen said, "It is not a personal meeting, and as a Bvlgari ambassador, she should have responded with an attitude suited to the culture," arguing that her "business manners were unprofessional." Another netizen said, "Jang Won-young seems to have made a mistake."
On the other hand, reactions continued stating that there is no need to accept unwanted physical contact.
One netizen pointed out, "Westerners coming to Korea should correct their arrogant habit of speaking English as if it were taken for granted," adding, "A cheek kiss is their culture, but they must first respect the other person's will."
Another netizen argued, "Isn't she avoiding it because her face comes down to chest level due to the height difference?" A reaction also emerged asking, "Why are you pushing your face toward my chest?"
However, the actual reason why Jang avoided the greeting remains unknown.
