Actress Chae Si-ra paid tribute to the late writer Jung Ha-yeon, with whom she worked on the historical dramas "The King and the Queen" and "Insu Daebi."
On Nov. 4, Chae posted a message on her Instagram account, writing, "Another great figure has passed away in just a few days."
Referring to Jung, the writer of "The King and the Queen" and "Insu Daebi," she said, "I had been thinking recently that he must be getting on in years and that I wanted to see him. But hearing the news left me shocked and filled with regret."
Chae expressed her gratitude for having worked with the late writer twice in the same role through the two dramas, saying, "I can only be grateful for how meaningful that experience was."
"I loved how he came to our weekly rehearsals and read through the scripts with us," she added. "He spent his entire life working so hard writing scripts, so I hope he can now rest peacefully, both in mind and spirit."
Jung died on Nov. 1 at the age of 82. He made his literary debut after winning a prize in a spring literary contest in 1968 and went on to write numerous historical dramas, including "Jang Nok-su," "The King and the Queen," "The Empress Myeongseong" and "Insu Daebi." He was widely credited with leaving a significant mark on the history of Korean historical television dramas.
