BNK Busan Bank held a special lecture on financial consumer protection for its executives and employees at the Busan Bank headquarters on the 23rd, inviting former Financial Supervisory Service Deputy Commissioner Kim Mi-young as the speaker.
The special lecture was organized to enhance employees' understanding of financial consumer protection supervisory policies and changes in the financial environment, and to further spread a consumer-centric financial culture.
Former Deputy Commissioner Kim, who previously served as Director of the Financial Consumer Protection Division at the Financial Supervisory Service, delivered a lecture on the theme of "Strengthening Financial Consumer Protection Supervision and Response Tasks." Former Deputy Commissioner Kim introduced the policy direction for financial consumer protection, the current status and best practices in promoting consumer protection governance at financial institutions, and emphasized the role and responsibility of management in establishing consumer protection as an organizational culture.
In particular, she argued that financial consumer protection must be practiced throughout the entire financial service process, from product planning and development to sales and after-sales management, going beyond mere compliance with regulations or post-hoc handling of complaints. To this end, she explained that organic cooperation across all departments and a preventive, forward-looking consumer protection system are essential.
Busan Bank plans to use this special lecture to raise employee awareness of financial consumer protection and continuously strengthen consumer-centric management that prioritizes customer rights and interests above all else.
A Busan Bank official stated, "Financial consumer protection is a core value for building trust with customers and achieving sustainable growth," adding, "Going forward, we will listen to customer voices and translate them into practical institutional improvements to create a financial environment where customers can transact with peace of mind."
