Entertainment-tech startup Galaxy Corporation announced it will unveil its second robot, which replicates a real human face, in New York next month. This comes approximately nine months after the company first revealed an animation-capable robot last December.
Choi Yong-ho, CEO of Galaxy Corporation, held a press conference on the 21st to commemorate the opening of 'Galaxy Robot Park' and explained future business plans in this manner. Choi (CEO) is scheduled to unveil the second robot modeled after himself on the 21st of next month during an event for World Peace Day in New York, USA.
Additionally, the company announced plans including opening a second Robot Park location in Dubai by year-end, launching the robot OS 'Soulware', G-Dragon and Taemin's world tour, and a world tour by robot artists in the second half of next year.
Choi (CEO) stated, "To mark Peace Day, we will present a second robot that looks exactly like me in New York, where Jeon Se-gye (President)s gather. We will demonstrate how robots can expand entertainment."
Galaxy Corporation was founded by Choi (CEO) in 2019, starting with capital of 1 million won and securing investment 31 times before becoming a unicorn company (corporate valuation of 1 trillion won) by the end of last year. Last year's revenue was 298.8 billion won, and cumulative investment raised reached 200 billion won. Affiliated artists include G-Dragon, Song Kang-ho, and Taemin.
Robot Park is a remodeled version of the Taekwon V Museum located in Gangdong-gu, Seoul. It gained significant popularity even before its official opening, with over 20,000 visitors during its pre-operational period.
During today's event, multiple robots performed choreography for 30 minutes in sync with music prior to Choi (CEO)'s speech. The robot first unveiled last December was initially controlled by one person per unit, but now up to 12 units can be operated simultaneously. The range of achievable movements has also expanded, allowing for high-difficulty actions such as spinning kicks.
This is made possible by 'Soulware', the robot OS (operating system) developed by Galaxy Corporation. The system enables robots to understand their surroundings and repeat learning processes. As real-world data accumulates, increasingly sophisticated movements will become feasible.
Choi (CEO) remarked, "Galaxy Corporation's competitive edge lies in imagination, creativity, and determination. We aim for robots to play a role similar to smartphones, assisting people in improving their daily lives."
