LG Electronics shattered its previous record for the second quarter, posting the highest-ever Q2 performance, bolstered by strong results in home appliances and automotive electronics businesses, as well as one-time gains from tariff refunds. Even amid an unfavorable external environment, growth was led by core premium-focused businesses, B2B (business-to-business) transactions, and subscription services across the company.
On the 30th, LG Electronics announced that its consolidated revenue for the second quarter reached 23.8265 trillion won, with operating profit at 1.5791 trillion won. Revenue increased by 14.9% year-on-year, while operating profit surged by 147%.
The rise in operating profit was driven by revenue growth, an expanded share of high-value product sales, improved cost competitiveness, and the activation of emergency management protocols. Additionally, a one-time gain from tariff refunds on goods exported to the U.S. last year contributed to the results. In this quarter, B2B revenue rose 5% year-on-year to 6.5 trillion won (representing 36% of total company sales excluding LG Innotek), while subscription business revenue increased by 5% to 660 billion won.
By business division, the HS Business Unit, responsible for home appliances, recorded revenue of 7.0707 trillion won and operating profit of 685.9 billion won, surpassing the 7th trillion won milestone in quarterly sales for the first time. This achievement was supported by a two-track strategy targeting both premium and volume segments, supply chain optimization, and subscription services. The MS (Media Entertainment Solutions) Business Unit reported revenue of 5.1146 trillion won and operating profit of 219.4 billion won, driven by growth in OLED and QNED (Nano-based High Color Reproduction Display) TVs and webOS.
The VS Business Unit, handling automotive electronics, posted revenue of 3.0259 trillion won and operating profit of 191.2 billion won, marking its highest-ever second-quarter performance. Revenue exceeded 3 trillion won for two consecutive quarters, with an operating profit margin surpassing 6%. The ES (Eco Solutions) Business Unit delivered strong results with revenue of 2.7261 trillion won and operating profit of 235.8 billion won, fueled by expanded overseas air conditioner sales.
LG Electronics plans to continue its strategy of targeting the Global South region and implementing structural improvements in the third quarter. The company will fully launch its robot actuator business and, in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning sector, will sustain investments in new businesses such as AI data center cooling solutions by leveraging its independently developed coolant distribution system.
