
Samsung Electric is accelerating its shift to a high-value-added business structure by securing the largest long-term supply agreement (LTA) for MLCCs (multilayer ceramic capacitors) in its history.
Samsung Electric announced on the 1st that it has signed an approximately 1 trillion 72 billion won contract with global major companies to supply MLCCs for AI (artificial intelligence) servers. The contract period is one year, from January 1 to December 31 of next year.
MLCCs are key components that regulate current in electronic circuits and prevent signal interference. In particular, MLCCs for AI servers require more than ten times the mounting quantity compared to general products and must withstand high-temperature and high-voltage environments, making them highly complex products that only a few companies can produce.
Samsung Electric currently has long-term supply agreements with over 10 global companies and is in discussions to finalize additional contracts with several more. Including this agreement, the cumulative scale of long-term supply contracts for silicon capacitors and MLCCs for AI servers signed since May totals 3 trillion 320 billion won.
According to Goldman Sachs, the market for MLCCs for AI servers is projected to grow at an annual average rate of about 34%, from 1.4 billion dollars in 2025 to 5.8 billion dollars in 2030. Samsung Electric maintains its leading position by securing a market share of over 40% in the MLCC market for AI servers.
A Samsung Electric official stated, "This contract is the result of global customers recognizing our technological capabilities and supply stability," adding, "We will expand the supply of high-reliability MLCCs for AI servers to secure a firm leadership position in the AI market."
