Key executives of Hyundai Motor Group are making a full-scale trip to Silicon Valley, USA, to secure global talent. Based on Chairman Chung Eui-sun's long-standing philosophy that "we go wherever the talent is," the group aims to consistently acquire high-quality human resources and strengthen its future competitiveness in mobility.
Hyundai Motor Group will hold the 'HMG Tech Talent Forum' at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in Silicon Valley, USA, on the 17th and 18th (local time). This inaugural event will see participation from nine Hyundai Motor Group companies, including Hyundai Motor, Kia, Boston Dynamics, and Motional. Local tech talent who applied to attend by June is expected to visit the venue.
Hyundai Motor Group determined that it was necessary to clearly explain its vision and major business achievements to recruit global core talent. Accordingly, on the first day of the forum, Jose Munyos Hyeon Dae-cha (CEO)Lee Sa (President), Park Min-woo, Executive Vice President (President) of Hyundai Motor & Kia AVP Division and CEO of Fortitude, Manfred Harer, Executive Vice President (President) of Hyundai Motor Group R&D Division, and Kim Hye-in, Executive Vice President of Hyundai Motor Group In Sa (Head), will each deliver keynote speeches introducing mid-to-long-term strategies. Following this, including Ha Reo (President) and Park (President), Hyundai Motor Group Executive Vice President in charge of Electrification Energy Solutions Kim Chang-hwan, and Jack Jacowski, Chief Product Technology Officer (CPTO) of Boston Dynamics, will participate as panelists to discuss promising technology trends. On the second day, team leaders and practitioners from each company within Hyundai Motor Group will hold 'Tech Sessions' across six different fields.
Final interviews for recruiting graduates (including those expected to graduate) in science and engineering majors from overseas universities will also take place over the two days of the forum. Hyundai Motor Group has already begun its recruitment process since April, completed the first round of interviews, and is now left with only the final interview stage. The recruitment focus is on cutting-edge fields where a global 'talent race' is intensifying, such as AI (artificial intelligence), robotics, and autonomous driving. Previously, Jeong (Chairman) also emphasized the importance of talent acquisition by stating, "Wherever there are technologies, visions, and talents that can innovate with us, we will go anywhere in the world."
Hyundai Motor Group is accelerating efforts to secure 'global top-tier talent' not only among practitioners but also at the executive level. Following the recruitment of Park (President) from Tesla and Nvidia in January this year, Milan Kobak, a world-renowned authority in robotics and autonomous driving, was appointed as a group advisor and outside director of Boston Dynamics. In mid-year, Kim Dong-uk (EVP), formerly of Tesla, was also appointed as head of the SDV Platform Development Center.
