SamsungSDI announced on the 22nd that it will officially sponsor the Korean delegation participating in the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) to cultivate future science and technology talent.
On this day, SamsungSDI signed a “Sponsorship Agreement for the Korean Delegation of the International Chemistry Olympiad” with the Korea Foundation for Science and Creativity and the Daehanwha Academy. Under this agreement, SamsungSDI will support the education, selection, and competition participation of the Korean delegation for the International Chemistry Olympiad, operated by the Daehanwha Academy, starting next January. The company also plans to provide separate scholarships to award recipients.
The International Chemistry Olympiad is an annual international competition where high school students from around the world compete in their knowledge and problem-solving abilities in chemistry. Korea has been sending delegations since the 24th competition held in Pennsylvania, United States, in 1992. The 59th competition next year will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, from July 19 to 28. Pre-registration is scheduled to begin in March next year.
Through this sponsorship, SamsungSDI aims to support outstanding talent in basic sciences to demonstrate their capabilities on the international stage, and to contribute to enhancing national science and technology competitiveness and cultivating next-generation talent in the long term. A SamsungSDI official stated, “We are continuing various efforts to nurture science and engineering talent, including research support and educational sponsorship,” adding, “We will continue to contribute to the cultivation of future science and technology talent.”
