SK hynix is set to pursue shareholder returns totaling 100 trillion won.
On the 28th, SK hynix announced that it will pursue shareholder returns of approximately 100 trillion won in total for fiscal year 2026, including cash dividends of over 30 trillion won and share buybacks and cancellations totaling more than 60 trillion won (including the existing 40 trillion won).
The company said that it plans to fulfill its commitment, announced in August, to return more than 50% of its free cash flow (FCF) to shareholders. The company explained, "Of this, the 40th trillion won share buyback announced in August was completed last week and is scheduled to be canceled shortly."
SK hynix also outlined a principle stating that it will determine dividend sizes based on operating performance, but if substantial investment gains occur, it will provide additional returns through special dividends, while continuing share buybacks every quarter.
At the board meeting held on the same day, cash dividends of 14 trillion won and share buybacks of 20 trillion won for the third quarter were approved.
Of the treasury shares to be purchased, the 10th trillion won portion intended for shareholder returns is planned to be fully canceled, while the remaining approximately 10 trillion won will be used for employee compensation and is not included in the shareholder return amount.
The third-quarter dividend of 20,000 won per share consists of a 10,000 won dividend reflecting improved performance and a 10,000 won special dividend sharing the results of the Kioxia investment. SK hynix has decided to return the majority of the profits realized from its Kioxia investment this year to shareholders.
