BATEC, a manufacturer and distributor of dental imaging diagnostic equipment, announced on the 29th that it has unveiled its mid-to-long-term strategy, "Desperate Leap 2029," to mark the 20th anniversary of its listing on the KOSDAQ.
Listed on the KOSDAQ in September 2006, BATEC manufactures the full range of dental diagnostic equipment, from intraoral imaging devices to high-specification CT scanners and software for image diagnosis and patient consultation. Supplying products to more than 100 countries, the company has established itself as the leading enterprise in both the domestic dental imaging market and the global dental CT market.
In 2003, BATEC launched Korea's first digital panoramic X-ray diagnostic equipment for dental use. In 2005, it developed a "3-in-1" digital X-ray system that integrated panoramic, cephalometric, and CT functions into a single device. Following its listing, the company expanded its product lineup to include low-dose, high-resolution CT scanners.
Based on consolidated figures, last year's revenue was 426.4 billion won, with overseas exports accounting for more than 90% of total sales. This year, BATEC achieved the milestone of manufacturing its 100,000th dental digital X-ray unit, named Yangsan, becoming the first domestic company to reach this mark.
In this mid-to-long-term strategy, BATEC outlined a direction to transform into an enterprise that sets the standard for dental care by combining AI (artificial intelligence) and software with its equipment manufacturing capabilities.
The plan is to provide medical staff with an experience where necessary information is delivered in a timely manner aligned with the flow of treatment, and to offer patients an experience spanning from prevention to diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment management.
Research and development will focus on solving problems in actual clinical settings. The company aims to advance technology by reducing imaging limitations caused by patient movement or physical conditions and by more broadly utilizing clinical information contained in images for diagnosis. Imaging equipment, AI, and software will be linked under a single development strategy.
The dental software BATEC is set to introduce will integrate images, patient information, and analysis results, connecting the flow of care from diagnosis to treatment planning, patient consultation, and report writing. The goal is to reduce the burden on medical staff who must learn individual functions and separately verify necessary information.
A BATEC official stated, "The software will take on the role of proactively organizing information and presenting items requiring review to support medical staff's decision-making." The official added, "We will expand the point of contact between dental clinics and patients beyond the examination room so that information gained during diagnosis and treatment can be utilized for patient consultation and post-treatment management."
Execution will be handled by existing sales channels. BATEC will disseminate new technologies and software to each market through its sales and service network established in 26 overseas subsidiaries and more than 100 countries.
Country-specific customer requirements, regulatory environments, and treatment methods will be reflected in research and development and business strategies. The company's strategy is to connect customers' usage experiences and needs after sale to product and service improvements, building a relationship that supports customers' care and operations beyond mere equipment supply.
Hwang Gyu-ho, CEO of BATEC, said, "The driving force behind BATEC's growth into the world's leading dental CT company lies in innovation—developing technologies needed by customers first and proving their value in global markets." He added, "It took more than 20 years to achieve such results, driven by investment in talent and fearless challenges."
He continued, "We will leap forward into an enterprise that sets new standards for dental care by connecting imaging equipment with AI and software." He added, "By expanding opportunities for customers to trust and choose our products and services, and for talent to challenge and grow, we aim to drive continuous business growth and enhance corporate valuation."
