
The KOSPI index fell slightly on the 6th, giving back the 7,000 mark. The deepening wait-and-see mood ahead of the start of the earnings season dampened the tailwind from U.S. tech stocks. The KOSDAQ index recovered the 900th level amid sector rotation and positive news for individual stocks.

Based on cumulative data from Korea Exchange and NextTrade, other corporations net bought 987.5 billion won, retail investors net bought 725.6 billion won, and institutional investors net bought 59.4 billion won, while foreign investors net sold 1 trillion 768.9 billion won.
Samsung Electronics fell 4,000 won (1.45%) to 272,000 won, and SK Hynix dropped 68,000 won (3.69%) to 1,773,000 won. The contribution of these two stocks to the index decline is estimated at approximately 82 points.
Among the remaining top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Biologics fell in the 3rd% range, while Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Life Insurance, and Samsung C&T recorded weakness in the 1st% range. KB Financial Group remained slightly down.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics, which disclosed a supply contract for MLCCs (multilayer ceramic capacitors), and LG Energy Solution, where expectations of an EV sales recovery have risen, both closed with gains in the 5th% range, slightly alleviating downward pressure. Hyundai Motor and SK Square were slightly up.
By sector, KOSPI transportation equipment, electrical electronics, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing showed weakness in the 1st% range, while paper and wood, distribution, securities, construction, insurance, telecommunications, IT services, non-metals, food and tobacco, finance, and transportation and warehousing were slightly down.
KOSPI medical precision closed with gains in the 6th% range, and chemicals rose in the 1st% range. Machinery and equipment, electricity and gas, entertainment and culture, textiles and apparel, real estate, metals, and general services were slightly up.
The KOSDAQ index closed at 919.92, up 26.63 points (2.98%) from the previous day. Foreign investors net bought 123.2 billion won, institutional investors net bought 105.6 billion won, and retail investors net sold 212.0 billion won.
All top 10 stocks by market capitalization rose. Jusung Engineering and HLB gained in the 17th% range, Ecopro BM in the 11th% range, Ecopro in the 7th% range, Simtech in the 4th% range, RAINBOW Robotics and Lino Co. in the 3rd% range, and Wonik IPS in the 1st% range. Alteogen was slightly up.
By sector, KOSDAQ pharmaceuticals and finance showed gains in the 4th% range, machinery and equipment, electrical electronics, and manufacturing in the 3rd% range, medical precision, IT services, and general services in the 2nd% range, and chemicals, paper and wood, construction, and metals in the 1st% range. Transportation equipment, distribution, and non-metals were slightly up. Publishing was down in the 1st% range, while textiles and apparel, other manufacturing, telecommunications, entertainment and culture, food and tobacco, and transportation and warehousing were slightly down.
