SK ShieldS' physical security brand ADT Caps is applying on-device AI to its home security service "Caps Home" and expanding its scope from crime prevention to managing family daily safety.
ADT Caps announced on the 28th that it will strengthen its "AI Peace of Mind Care" service, which combines Caps Home's AI technology with nationwide response infrastructure. Caps Home was launched in 2017 and is currently used by approximately 130,000 households nationwide.
Caps Home utilizes on-device AI to analyze video data in real time within the device itself. It detects loitering or intrusion attempts by strangers and informs users whether family members have returned home through AI facial recognition. It also provides an AI masking function that automatically blurs the faces of individuals appearing in recorded videos.
Its distinctive feature lies not only in detecting risky situations but also in connecting them to actual on-site responses. When an abnormal situation occurs, ADT Caps response personnel verify the scene and carry out necessary follow-up actions. The company also provides compensation support if damage occurs.
The company explained that there have been cases where repeated attempts to enter a door lock password at the front door in the early morning were detected as intrusion attempts, leading to police reports, and cases where recorded videos were used as evidence in package theft incidents.
ADT Caps plans to expand the scope of AI analysis from crime and intrusion detection to daily care services. It intends to add features such as detecting abnormal signs among elderly people living alone, managing safety for infants and children, and providing peace-of-mind services for single-person households. If AI can identify movements that differ from an elderly person's usual patterns, the existing physical security business could expand into care services. Caps Home recently won the Silver Prize at "ICT AWARD KOREA 2026."
An ADT Caps representative stated, "What customers want is not just security to protect their homes but an integrated service that allows them to feel at ease about their families' daily lives," adding, "By combining on-device AI with nationwide response infrastructure, we will provide differentiated residential safety services."
