Gamers from around the world competed in mobile gaming using Samsung Electronics' latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This took place as Samsung Electronics held the global mobile game tournament PlayGalaxy Cup World Final at Gamescom 2026, the world's largest gaming exhibition, held in Cologne, Germany.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 30th that it hosted the PlayGalaxy Cup (#PlayGalaxy Cup) World Final at Gamescom 2026, which took place at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany.
The sixth edition of the PlayGalaxy Cup is a global tournament where players compete in mobile gaming using Galaxy smartphones. For the first time this year, the event expanded from a one-off competition to a regular league format, running from regional qualifiers through to the World Final.
Regional qualifiers were held from February across five regions: North America, Southwest Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Europe. A total of 32 teams from 17 countries participated, with the top two teams from each region—10 teams representing nine countries—advancing to the World Final.
During the two-day World Final held from the 27th, all players competed using the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The Galaxy S26 Ultra provided a stable environment even during long matches, thanks to its powerful processor and optimized thermal control system.
The finals were broadcast live on global streamer Ludwig's YouTube channel, accumulating 12.1 million views. The championship was won by the Malaysian team (San Gaming, ADIKBOY, VRT1CAA, ACAD).

At the Gamescom venue, Samsung Electronics also established a Galaxy experience zone. Visitors were able to directly try out devices including the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and enjoy popular games from publishers such as Hoyoverse, Timi Studio, and Game Loft.
Samsung Electronics is leveraging global gaming tournaments to highlight Galaxy's gaming performance. In particular, footage of professional gamers competing for extended periods on the latest smartphones underscored the device's stable gaming operation capabilities.
Moon Ki-wook, Head of the Influencer Marketing Group in Samsung Electronics' MX Business Division, stated, "This year, we expanded the PlayGalaxy Cup to a regular league format for the first time, allowing gaming fans worldwide to enjoy the entire tournament process from regional qualifiers to the World Final. Going forward, based on Galaxy's powerful mobile gaming performance, we will continue to provide diverse gaming experiences to gamers around the world."
