Samsung Electronics is increasingly likely to raise the factory-gate price of its Galaxy S26 series. The three major telecom operators are understood to have informed distribution channels of a plan to increase Galaxy S26 series prices by 149,600 won starting next month. This is interpreted as being influenced by rising costs due to a sharp increase in memory prices.
According to the mobile communications industry on the 14th, the three major telecom operators recently informed distribution channels, including Hye Daejeon sales stores, that the factory-gate price of the Galaxy S26 series will rise by 149,600 won starting October 1. Currently priced at 1,254,000 won, the Galaxy S26 256GB model would become 1,403,600 won under this plan.
However, Samsung Electronics maintains that it has not yet determined whether to raise prices or by how much. A Samsung Electronics representative stated, "We are currently reviewing internally. It has not yet been decided whether to raise prices or by how much." The three major telecom operators also held back from commenting on the matter, directing inquiries to the manufacturer.
The factory-gate price of iPhone 17 through carriers is also likely to rise in October. While the three major telecom operators have informed distribution channels that prices may increase, specific timing and magnitude remain undecided.
Apple has already raised the price of iPhone 17 unlocked phones sold on its official website. The iPhone 17 256GB model increased from 1,287,000 won to 1.45 million won (a rise of 163,000 won or 12.7%), while the 512GB model rose from 1,584,000 won to 1.75 million won (an increase of 166,000 won or 10.5%). With unlocked phone prices already increased, a price hike for iPhone 17 through carriers is now only a matter of time.
