World-renowned scholars, including three Noh Bel-sang (수상) laureates, will gather in Korea to discuss 'The Future of Science Transformed by AI.'
The Korean Academy of Science and Technology announced on the 20th that it will co-host 'Nobel Prize Dialogue Seoul 2026' with Nobel Prize Outreach under the Nobel Foundation at the COEX Auditorium in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
'Nobel Prize Dialogue' is a special overseas event of 'Nobel Week Dialogue,' an academic conference held annually around December 10—the date of the Nobel Prize ceremony—in Sweden. This marks the third time the event has been held in Korea, following previous editions in 2017 and 2023.
The event will feature 16 speakers and panelists from fields including science and technology, arts, and philosophy, along with three past Noh Bel-sang (수상) laureates: David MacMillan, professor at Princeton University (2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry), Brian Schmidt of Australia (2011 Nobel Prize in Physics), and Craig Mello of Harvard Medical School in Massachusetts (2006 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine).
Six Korean high school and university students will also take the stage as discussants. They will engage in debates alongside Noh Bel-sang (수상) laureates on topics such as 'What Makes a Great Scientist in the AI Era' and 'The Most Important Scientific Competencies in the Age of AI.'
Jung Jin-ho, president of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology, stated, "AI is rapidly transforming the paradigm of scientific research, and we are at a critical juncture where we must jointly consider the future." He added, "This event offers an opportunity to advance discussions on AI and science together with world-class scholars."
