On the 19th, the Broadcasting, Media and Communications Commission announced that it had granted the recusal application for the hearing chair submitted by Yoojin GNT Co., Ltd., based on the results of its 43rd committee meeting, which was conducted in written form.
The commission also decided to allow limited access to documents and copies for parties involved in the hearing, and that the hearing chair would determine whether to conduct an evidentiary investigation. The request to change the hearing date will be processed via official correspondence, as there are no specific provisions regarding such requests under the Administrative Procedure Act.
Initially, the Broadcasting, Media and Communications Commission had planned to hold a hearing with Yoojin GNT on the 21st to verify the legality of its approval for the change of YTN's largest shareholder. It intended to determine whether to revoke the approval ex officio based on the outcome of the hearing.
However, as the recusal application for the hearing chair filed by Yoojin GNT was accepted, the commission will begin the process of reselecting a new hearing chair.
