Danielle (21), a former member of the group NewJeans, released a self-composed song while continuing legal disputes with her former agency, ADOR.
On the 29th, Danielle published a one-minute-and-34-second video on her YouTube channel singing her self-composed song "Stay."
"Stay" is a folk-pop genre track featuring an acoustic guitar accompaniment and Danielle's dreamy vocals. Danielle wrote and composed the song herself. Given that the release date coincides with the fourth anniversary of the birth of NewJeans' fandom, Bunnies, the song is interpreted as Danielle's confession of her state of mind. The lyrics are all written in English.
The song includes lyrics such as "I hope time will help me regain the emotions I need most," "When no one reaches out, I try to wash away the pain," "Believing that I can turn everything around for you, I truly fought desperately," and "Even if I try to start everything anew, it can't be the same as before."
Danielle is currently engaged in a damages lawsuit worth 33 billion won against ADOR. In November 2024, NewJeans members declared their intention to pursue independent activities, claiming that ADOR had breached the contract and that the exclusive agency agreement had been terminated.
However, the court ruled last October that the exclusive agency agreement was valid. Subsequently, ADOR notified Danielle of the termination of the exclusive agency agreement and filed a lawsuit seeking penalty for breach of contract and damages against Danielle, former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin, and others. Currently, Danielle is without an agency.
