Actor Shin Hyeon-jun expressed his respect for actress Kim Hye-soo, who accompanied the late (deceased) Choi Bul-am on his final journey.
On the 2nd, Shin posted a message on his Instagram that began with, "A person who makes you feel truly secure when together. I am proud of my colleague and fellow actress, Kim Hye-soo."
Speaking about Kim, he said, "She is a person whose heart toward others is as deep and warm as her depth as an actress," adding, "She is someone who is more solid than anyone in her own position, yet willingly opens up space to stand by the side of those in pain."
He further stated, "Walking the same path for such a long time, I am so grateful to have such a colleague," and concluded, "Kim Hye-soo, a good actress and a good person. Kim Hye-soo, an actress beautiful even in her heart."
Finally, he offered words of encouragement, saying, "Hang in there, Ms. Hye-soo."
The photos posted with the message showed Shin and Kim wearing black mourning attire. The post also included a photo capturing Kim kneeling at the wake to organize the shoes of mourners.
Kim kept vigil at the wake of the late Choi Bul-am, who passed away on the 29th of last month, for three days. She guided mourners at the wake and was present at the closing of the coffin ceremony. At the removal of the body and the funeral mass, she supported the late man's wife, Kim Min-ja, who was overcome with grief.
The two people's connection began in 1987, when Kim was a first-year high school student, during her role in KBS's "Lament for a Mother." Kim Min-ja and Kim Hye-soo played mother and daughter. Afterward, Kim treated the Choi Bul-am and Kim Min-ja couple like her actual parents.
In 2021, Kim appeared on the 10th-anniversary special of KBS 1TV's "Korean Table," where she prepared food for Choi with Kim Min-ja in Ganghwa Island, mentioning, "To me, you two are like a mother and father."
Choi underwent surgery for a herniated disc in March last year and received rehabilitation treatment, but his health deteriorated, leading to his death on the 29th of last month. The government posthumously awarded him the Gold Medal of Cultural Merit the following day.
