T.O.P (Choi Seung-hyun), a former member of the group BIGBANG, released an apology statement amid the closure of his 20-year-old fan site, Choi Seung-hyun.com (CHOIDOT).
On the 1st, T.O.P posted a lengthy message on his account that began with, "I want to convey my sincere feelings to the administrators of Choi Seung-hyun.com who have been with me for the long period of 20 years."
He expressed his sincerity, stating, "Even in moments when I myself found it difficult to believe in me, you believed in this one person and always gave me the strength to make music again through your warm hearts and precious support. I will never forget in my lifetime the time and effort you poured out to consistently guard that place, as well as the precious sincerity of the fans who joined together in spirit."
He further revealed his inner thoughts, saying, "Given various circumstances, I believed I had to be cautious with even a single word from me, which is why it took time to convey my feelings," and added, "I hope that the incredibly precious time we spent together does not remain as misunderstanding or become a wound for each other."
T.O.P bowed his head, stating, "Because I know all too well that the interest and love you send are by no means taken for granted, I will live my life carrying a heart full of gratitude deeply within me," and added, "I sincerely apologize to the administrators of Choi Seung-hyun.com and the fans who have been misunderstood and hurt because of me."
Previously, on the 9th of last month, Choi Seung-hyun.com announced that it would end its operations, which had continued from August 24, 2006, to October 9, 2026. It declared the termination of operations, stating that T.O.P and his agency did not set up a separate official communication channel, forcing the fan site to take on practical tasks such as handling overseas fans. The site, established around the time of BIGBANG's debut, has closed its doors after 20 years.
In response, T.O.P's agency, Top Spot Pictures, had previously bowed its head, stating, "We are taking the opinions conveyed by you, our fans, very seriously. We deeply apologize for not being able to sufficiently reach out to you with news of activities and communication during your wait, and for causing disappointment and regret as a result."
About three weeks after the controversy erupted, T.O.P directly posted an apology statement, bowing his head once again.
Meanwhile, on the 2nd of last month, T.O.P officially acknowledged his romantic relationship with Nana, a singer and actress formerly of After School.
