Jeju Air successfully turned profitable, recording an operating profit of 54.9 billion won in the third quarter of this year.
Through a public disclosure on the 3rd, Jeju Air announced that it recorded revenue of 489.6 billion won and an operating profit of 54.9 billion won on a standalone basis for the third quarter of this year. The operating profit turned positive, reversing an operating loss of 59.9 billion won during the same period last year.
Cumulative revenue for the first three quarters of this year totaled 1 trillion 429.5 billion won, and cumulative operating profit was recorded at 66.9 billion won. The cumulative operating profit also turned from a loss to a profit compared to the same period last year.
Net income for the third quarter reached 203.2 billion won. This was influenced by improved foreign currency-related gains and losses due to the decline in the won-dollar exchange rate, as well as profits from the sale of aircraft assets.
Jeju Air's net income for the third quarter amounted to approximately 3.7 times its operating profit. It is interpreted that the turn to profitability in the operating sector, along with improved non-operating gains and losses from exchange rates and asset sales, contributed to the expansion of net income.
