Chung Yong-jin, chairman of Shinsegae Group, is set to return as CEO of E-Mart, a core affiliate of the group, after 13 years. Chung, who was appointed CEO of real estate development affiliate Shinsegae Property in June, will now take charge of managing E-Mart, the central pillar of the group, and is expected to step into the forefront of management to strengthen competitiveness in its core retail business while expanding new ventures.
Kim Hong-guk, CEO of Shinsegae Casing, has been nominated as co-CEO to lead E-Mart alongside Chung. The newly appointed Kim will also concurrently serve as CEO of e-commerce affiliate SSG.com, simultaneously pushing to strengthen competitiveness in both online and offline channels.
The management team of the "Management Strategy Office," the group's control tower, has also been largely replaced. Choi Taek-won, CEO of SSG.com, was appointed Chief Operating Officer, overseeing personnel and audit functions, while Park Seung-hak, Head of the Leisure Business Division at Chosun Hotels & Resorts, was named Head of External Relations, responsible for public relations and government affairs. Jeon Sang-jin, Vice President in charge of overall management, has been retained to oversee the operations of the Strategy Office and the group's finance division.
Shinsegae Casing has recruited Heo Min-ho (CEO), a director who led the growth of CJOlive Young for 10 years. Shinsegae International is being reorganized into fashion and cosmetics (beauty) divisions, each adopting a specialized management system. Kim Deok-ju, Hyeon (CEO), will head the fashion division, while Heo Min-ho (CEO) will concurrently serve as CEO of the cosmetics division.
Gi In-ju (CEO) of SMPMC has been nominated as CEO of the Shinsegae Baseball Team and will focus on preparations for the "Cheongra Dome Stadium," scheduled to open in 2028.

Chung will officially take office as E-Mart CEO after a shareholders' meeting in early next year. He will embark on responsible management under a multi-CEO system alongside Kim Hong-guk, the newly appointed E-Mart CEO, and Lee Hyung-cheon, CEO of Shinsegae Property.
Through this personnel change, Chung will oversee not only strengthening the competitiveness of E-Mart's core business but also new business areas that will be responsible for the group's future growth, including AI data centers, Starfield Cheongra, hotel development, and indirect investment in Warner Bros.
Chung, who announced his plan to return as a registered director of E-Mart in June, stated, "I solemnly accept the market's demand for clear accountability in company management," adding, "Going forward, I will be evaluated by the board of directors and shareholders as CEO."
Shinsegae Group stated, "We are concretizing our leap from a retail company to a lifestyle, content, and entertainment enterprise," adding, "Through bold investments directly led by Chung, we are closely collaborating with top global companies in each field, continuously promoting the selection of talent to achieve our vision, and spreading an innovative DNA within the group."
Meanwhile, Shinsegae Group injected a wave of change through its executive appointments by boldly selecting new leaders and emphasizing the appointment of young executives, while also retaining CEOs of major affiliates who have proven their performance to ensure organizational stability.
In its regular personnel changes, the company carried out promotions for 36 new executives, the largest number in its history. It also actively selected young executives, appointing individuals in their 40s to make up approximately 18% of all executives. The company explained that this reflects a new business competency and performance-based talent development system.
